The Spay and Neuter Thrift Shop of Seaside, Oregon is dedicated to the welfare of cats and dogs in Clatsop County on the north Oregon Coast.
The thrift shop can be found along the Necanicum River in the heart of downtown Seaside, Oregon. The Spay and Neuter Association of Seaside, Oregon is a non-profit organization (501c3) which offers discount certificates for spaying and neutering of cats and dogs within Clatsop County.
Through proceeds from the shop we donate to the Clatsop County Animal Shelter and the South County Food Bank for pet food. Our shop is staffed by volunteers and survives on your generosity.
Visit our shop to see what we are all about!
To prevent cruelty and inhumane treatment of animals. To promote the spaying and neutering of cats and dogs in Clatsop County and to support the efforts of the Animal Shelter. To supply clean affordable clothing and household items to residents and visitors through our thrift shop.
The North Coast Animal Haven was started in 1963 by a group of citizens concerned with the welfare of the animals in Clatsop County. Working out of a shed, they began a small thrift shop. The proceeds from sales went toward realizing their goal of providing shelter for unwanted animals.
They toiled for ten years collecting money and searching for a spot to build a shelter. Various things happened and the shelter was never developed by the North Coast Animal Haven group. (The county has since built the animal shelter in Warrenton just a few miles away.)
In 1988 the focus of the North Coast Animal Haven group changed to providing spay and neuter certificates to residents of Clatsop County to take care of their cats and dogs.
That same year the small thrift shop moved to its current location at 600 Broadway in the historic Gilbert block of downtown Seaside.
We became known as The Spay and Neuter Thrift Shop of Seaside, Oregon in 2013. We now occupy three suites in the original building. We are the oldest thrift shop in Seaside and currently the only one located in the downtown area.
